ABOUT ORMAR STANDARD POODLES

Ormar Poodles is located in Montreal, Canada, in the province of Quebec, in a beautiful suburb of the west island of Montreal, surrounded by a lake., beautiful parks and marinas. Ormar was established in 1992 with the acquisition of our beautiful , beloved foundation female, “Marney" who lived to be 16 yrs. old.

She finished her championship as a puppy in 3 weekends, with multiple Best Puppy In Show wins, and went on to produce multi group, group placing, and best puppy in show winning children and grandchildren.

We successfully exhibit our poodles in Canada, the U.S.A. and some in Europe. While obtaining championship and obedience titles is important to us, our main priority lies with the temperament and health of our dogs. Our poodles are known to be sound, healthy, intelligent, wonderful loving companions while possessing beautiful breed type, and sweet friendly temperaments.

Breeding poodles is an honor and a privilege. As a dedicated breeder and lover of poodles, we stress the importance of all genetic testing. Before our dogs are bred, they are tested for HIPS (OFA), SEBACEOUS ADENITIS (SA-OFA), THYROID (T3, T4, TSH), EYES (CERF/OFA), VON WILLEBRAND'S (VwD DNA, VET GEN), NEwS (DNA, OFA), DM-Degenerative Myelopathy (DNA-OFA), and HEART (Cardiologist certified - OFA). The results are submitted to OFA with each dog obtaining their CHIC #, and copies of all testing results are provided to our puppy clients.

We are NOT a kennel. Our dogs are much loved members of our family. They live with us and sleep in our home. They are well socialized with adults, children and other dogs. They are provided with daily outdoor exercise on forest trails where they meet, play and socialize with their doggy friends, as well as swim in the lake surrounding our home in the summer. They have active, full lives, and are an important,and integral part of our family.

Because of the importance of bringing up healthy and socially sound puppies, we have only one (1) litter per year. Each and every puppy is given individual and age appropriate experiences and full attention in our home. They are raised in an immaculately clean and loving environment with lots of stimuli which prepares them for the outside world.

We always thrive for quality not quantity. Anyone breeding for love knows there is NO money to be made in breeding quality dogs, therefore we are NOT a business.

Puppies do not leave our home before 9-10 weeks of age. Our puppies are temperament tested and carefully matched to each client’s personality and lifestyle. All puppies are placed with CKC non-breeding agreements (spay/neuter contracts). Our clients are provided with copies of all genetic testing results on both dam and sire of the litter, and a new puppy starter kit. Our puppies are all vet checked, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and CKC registered.

We encourage all our clients to stay in touch with and update us on their puppy’s progress periodically. We love to receive emails, photos and visitors. Everyone who visits our home and interacts with our puppies and adult dogs can see how well loved, extensively socialized, and impecably cared for Ormar Poodles are.
